I was talking with a training client today and we got into an interesting conversation about his favorite exercise.  It was kind of neat learning about his preferences, likes and dislikes.  So I wanted to open this up a bit and ask you… what’s your favorite exercise and why?

If you're bored with traditional crunches and sit-ups, try some vertical ab exercises instead. The abdominal muscles should be trained like any other muscle group. One to three sets of eight to 20 repetitions to fatigue performed two to three times a week is a good starting point for most people. Monitor progress after each workout and adjust the amount of resistance and number of repetitions as needed.

Some of the exercises described here are difficult to perform and not suitable for everyone: Consult your health care practitioner for safety guidelines before beginning a new exercise program.

I run on my treadmill a least 4 times a week. I get my tv watching time in during my run. Two birds... one stone.

I like an exercise that doesn't look like an exercise at all. I mean, an exercise that is not obvious, like an outdoor/recreational activity. You'll have fun doing it and as an effect, your physique gets healthier and better.

I always believe exercise and workouts are vital for healthy livings. I am following the the videos of a good website, the results of which are quite encouraging.  You may consider Workouts On Demand -- their workout videos are geared for beginners/freshers.

i really like running when i realize that i haven' been doing a lot lately and i want to get back in shape quickly. over the summer mountain biking is a very good way to get away from running. as far as in the gym, leg lifts. they always make my abs sore if i haven't done them in a while  Smiley

There is a stair climber which is a moving stair case ! It is fun because I feel like I'm burning a lot more calories than a regular treadmill.

I love to swim as my regular fitness routine, i swim roughly 3 times a week and endure about 50/60 lengths and i feel great afterwards.
Regular swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and cardio-vascular fitness, Swimming does burn calories at a rate of about 3 calories a mile per pound of bodyweight. If you weigh 150 lbs. and it takes you 30 minutes to swim one mile (1,760 yards or 1,609 meters), then you will be using about 900 calories in one hour. However, many swimmers do not swim that quickly, and many cannot swim for that distance or duration. just a little fact for you there Smiley xx

For me is Staircase Workouts. This is great because stairs are everywhere. You can go to a football field and do stadium stairs, any building that has stairs like a hotel, most people take the elevator, so you won’t even have many people looking at you while you’re working out, or even the stairs in your own home. For an awesome full body workout, try mixing stairs sprints with an upper body exercise like push ups or pull-ups. If done with a high enough intensity, stairs workouts help to create changes throughout your entire body due to the muscle building and fat burning hormonal response and metabolism increase that you get through working the biggest muscle groups in your entire body. If you thought that going up and down the stairs was the only way to get a good stairs workout…think again.

Good question.

If I could only choose 1 exercise....it would have to be skipping.

Its fun, you can keep it fresh. Its an all over body workout.
great for fitness and getting toned fast.
